Algebra 2 Course Information
Algebra 2 is a yearlong college preparatory course that extends the concepts and skills studied in Algebra 1. Topics we will explore include systems of equations and inequalities, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions, rational equations and functions, and complex numbers.
Since the majority of Algebra 2 standards are covered in the second semester, if a student fails the second semester, regardless of the year average, the student will fail the year for Algebra 2. This shows that students have not mastered the majority of the Algebra 2 standards.
A passing grade in Algebra 2 is required to take Trigonometry/PreCalculus and AP Statistics.
